Introduction
Functional mushrooms are everywhere right now. At Longevium we build our coffees and teas around three of them — Reishi, Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps — each chosen for its long history of use and the character it brings to a cup. Here’s a proper introduction to all three.
Why These Three?
We chose mushrooms with long, well-documented histories of regular use in food and drink culture, and that pair naturally with coffee and tea. They’re ingredients, not medicines — the point is a well-made daily cup you’ll actually look forward to.
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum)
Reishi is the mushroom at the heart of every Longevium blend. Reddish-brown and woody, it’s been brewed into teas and ground into powders for centuries in East Asian food culture, where it’s sometimes nicknamed the “mushroom of immortality” — a poetic name from tradition, nothing more. In our blends it’s there for heritage and for the smooth, earthy depth it lends the cup.
Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus)
Named for its distinctive cascading, shaggy white appearance, Lion’s Mane has a long place in traditional cooking. We include it in select blends where it rounds out the flavour alongside natural coffee.
Cordyceps
Cordyceps has the most unusual backstory of the three: Himalayan shepherds first noticed it growing in high-altitude pastures, and it became one of the most prized — and rarest — ingredients in the region. We pair it with our red tea for those who prefer a caffeine-free cup.
How We Source and Make It
Not all mushroom products are the same. For Reishi we use cracked-shell spores, made from spores whose tough outer shell has been broken open. Every batch is tested for heavy metals, mould and pesticides. Our blends are naturally low-acidity (around pH 7) for a smooth, easy-drinking cup.
Make It a Daily Ritual
The best way to get to know Longevium is our One Box Experience: replace your usual daily coffee or tea with one of our blends and enjoy it consistently until the box is finished. It’s a simple swap that turns into an easy daily ritual.
A Responsible Note
If you’re taking medication, pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a medical condition, please consult a qualified healthcare professional before adding new products to your routine.
In Short
Great ingredients, honestly sourced, made into coffees and teas you’ll enjoy every day. Simple habits. Quality ingredients. Long-term thinking. That’s the Longevium way.
